In this regard, the Ministry of Transport subsidises transport providers so that transport concessions are offered to eligible beneficiaries. Concession beneficiaries include pensioners, seniors, school students, tertiary students, apprentices, trainees, vision impaired, welfare recipients, war widows, war veterans and ex-service people. For information in languages other than English 131 202. < TOP > Isolated Patients Travel & Accommodation Scheme (IPTAAS)IPTAAS provides financial assistance to people in isolated areas. It is available to people who need to travel more than 200 km one way from their home to obtain inpatient or outpatient specialist medical treatment and/or specialist oral health surgical treatment not available locally. Supporting documentation from a medical practitioner of the condition and the reason for travel is required prior to reimbursement. As this is a referral only service claim forms with the relevant contact details are only available from your medical practitioner or specialist. < TOP > School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS)Through the SSTS, the Ministry of Transport provides subsidised travel for eligible school students who are residents of NSW between their place of residence and the school they attend. A subsidy is also available for transport to and from school in private vehicles in areas where there is no public transport. Tertiary and TAFE students are also eligible for concessions but will need to contact their University, College or TAFE for application details. Contact your local school bus operator or the Ministry of Transport.

The scheme entitles participants to travel by taxi at half fare. The maximum subsidy that can be claimed is $30.00 per trip (half a $60.00 fare). Recreation Transport Allowance may be paid to veterans with severe war or defence-caused disabilities (such as amputations and blindness) that affect mobility, to promote their access to recreational activities.
